Beginning a Campaign for Twins Legislation
in your Area
You would love to help, perhaps even begin a Twins Law Campaign in your area, but you work full time and don’t have any political or legal background. Besides, the whole process seems very time consuming and intimidating!
Let me assure you, that you have nothing to fear!
You are in terrific company!
None of us have any political background, though some of us, do have some legal insight and all of us have little time to spare!
We are mostly just parents or guardians of twins, triplets or higher order multiples, many of whom have personally faced placement difficulties within our national school system, all who want to ensure that we have a voice in the placement of our multiple birth children within the classroom.
So we help each other! As we go through the process, from writing to our State Senators to celebrating when our laws are enacted, we learn what is needed and share our insight as to what has been successful. Some of us work full time jobs, others are stay at home parents, but we all have been able to pursue our Twins Law goals, while maintaining the integrity of our daily lives. You too can manage a Twins Law campaign in your free time as long as you have a computer and a telephone.
Twins Law Petitions and Writing to Your State Senators
The first step to a twin law can be accomplished with or without a petition. Online petitions are helpful in showing the “need” for this legislation, though they hold little to no legal weight unless they are hand signed. Legislators presented with petitions realize that this is not an issue to be disregarded and that it holds great importance to parents of multiples. Beginning a petition takes only a few minutes! I can send you our sample wording and even walk you though it on the telephone. They take only about 5 minutes to post. From there you email it to family and friends asking them to support your cause.
After your petition is posted, I will begin a State Page for you, making your link available on both the petitions page and your home page to all who visit Twinslaw.com. As your campaign progress, I will update your page as needed with important information you provide me, for all those who join you in your endeavor. It is a great way to keep visitors apprised of the day to day activities of your state campaign.
Next step is to write to your State Senators asking them to sponsor a twin law for your State.
Here too your work is practically done for you. We have sample letters which can be changed to suit your state. You only need to personalize them if you choose! Send the letter along with the research (which I will send to you) via snail mail and email to your elected officials for their review!
Follow up with a phone call in a week or so, and hopefully you will find that your twin law has been sponsored!

Once your State Senator sponsors your Twin Law, he/she will find co sponsors in the Assembly (House). As language is debated and changed we can also offer you our assistance. Those of us who have been lucky enough to have our Twin Laws enacted are intimately familiar with the process and we will be happy to answer your questions. Just take a chance!
