Thank you very much for this site and for what you have been doing. My children are identical twin girls.
They started out in Catholic school for safety but financially we couldn't do it anymore. The public school system in Yonkers,NY
will not even listen to the parents concern for their children and have made many empty promises to me. But, most of all they make me (a single parent now) feel like I have no say in my child's education whatsoever! All I ever wanted was an input and not to be made into a crazy woman for wanting my children in the same classes.
My plan was to keep them together but that did not happen. The very 1st year(2004) they were separated and it was a brutal time for me and my kids emotionally. The Yonkers public school system said no way would they be put into the same classroom what so ever! Ever since then I have felt like I have been losing an uphill battle.
Thank you so much for what you are doing. Finally, for once I feel hopeful that this system will change.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Hi Kathy:
We received the news today. The principal called us, said he had
received and reviewed the packet we sent him, had reconsidered his
position and would be placing the girls together! We could not be more
pleased and surprised, as he was adamantly opposed to us throughout the
process.
There is no way we could have achieved this without all of your
guidance, support and the voluminous information and research you sent
us on the topic. We used all of it in our letter.
On a related topic, if there is any help, volunteer work or support you
need to move forward with the New York initiative, we are more than
willing to help in any way.
Many, many thanks. Mission accomplished. Please let us know how we can
help.
Very Best Regards,
Cathy and Mike
Hi Kathy,
Just wanted to thank you for all your help!
I had my meeting with the principal yesterday , after she read through all the research and info I gave her on multiples classroom placement. In fact she said after reading it all she had no need to call the contacts I gave her! And she couldn’t come up with a good reason to separate them! They will be in the same class for 1st grade! My triplets are the first multiples to be left together in 1st grade in the schools history! I feel we have set a new president for multiples in our district and they wont have to put up a fight like I have the last 3 yrs! We both agreed to reevaluate their class placement each yr, but believe me if their is no problems, they will continue to be in the same class. I have no doubt that the info you gave me helped immensely! Not to mention the 2 pediatricians letters from the kids drs and the twins bill legislation info helped as well!
I feel so stronlgy that as parents we should definitely be given every right to choose what’s best for our multiple children for separation or not in class.
I will continue to do all I can to help the Bill. Please let me know when I can help!
Thanks again , you have been such a inspiration to me!

Kathy,
Thank you so much for the information you sent. Also thank you for being so extremely knowledgeable and supportive. This past week has been so stressful on our entire family. The problem is, most people, including friends and family just don't understand the special bond, but it was wonderful to hear from someone else that has been through the exact same situation.
I did speak with the principal this morning for about an hour. He stated he would have to think about the situation and do some research, in addition to what I gave him. He also stated he would have to speak with the Superintendent and would hopefully have answer for me sometime the middle of next week. For the time being they are together in summer school. My daughter was thrilled this morning. My son is having trouble trusting the whole process now and still cried and clung to me a little bit, but was able to go ahead and pull it together. I believe he will end of loving school, now that he is with this sister. I will let you know when I get a final answer for him.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help. My main concern right now was to get some form of policy or better yet law implemented so that we don't have to deal with this issue year after year. Again, thank you so much for your support.
Jennifer
I am sitting here just weeping to have found such support. My seven-year-old twins were split into separate classrooms this year due to the same ambiguous school "policy" so many others have mentioned. After the second week of school, it is CLEAR that my daughter is having an adverse reaction -- her behavior has completely changed. I was doing research on the Web just now to help bolster my case for a meeting with the principal in the morning, when I ran across your site. I can't describe how it feels to read what my gut and heart have been saying all along.
Thank you a million times over. And keep up the great work.
Best,
Kim
Guess what -- the principal finally backed down! Our girls will be placed together now! I can't believe it and am so happy! We never gave our girls any hope that they'd be able to be together another year and the girls were dreading starting 2nd grade. When we broke them the news that they're going to be together -- they were thrilled! I'm so happy!
Thanks again for all your help!
